The best French Onion Soup I ever had was in a l’Sofitel in Minnesota. l’Sofitel has been described as a superb restaurant with a small attached hotel. I would tend to agree with that assessment.
The best French onion soup I’ve ever enjoyed was not in France but in Seattle, Wa. There are several excellent restaurants that serve incredible onion soup to choose from. Something about Seattle and onion soup on a rainy day that just goes together perfectly.
And, let us not forget, if it weren’t for French involvement, the USA as we know it today wouldn’t exist. Our little revolution in the 1700’s would have gone quite differently except for them.
And yet, so many Americans seem to get great joy out of putting down the French. Do you suppose if you lived next to Germany you would have done any better? I wonder? We have a PINO trying to turn the USA into a modern Nazi state and there are plenty cheering him on. Where are the, so called, patriots to stop that move… hhhmmmm? Oh yah, they’re part of the problem….

There can only be an “air of superiority” if you project an “air of inferiority.”
