The bicycle was invented before the telephone, BION.
The TV was invented before the computer, BION.
The cell phone was invented before the CD-drive, BION.
What do any of those have to do with the other in the pair? Absolutely nothing (same as the hulu-hoop and credit card.)
Now if you want a “this was invented before that” that actually are related, try “the fax machine was invented before the telephone” (they both use electrical wires to transmit the signal and nowdays fax machines use the phone lines/phone service to work so those are related. And the fax machine was first used in a lab in 1846 and first commercial test was 1865. Graham patented the phone in 1876.)
I remember my mom’s department store “Charge-a-Plate” was a quarter the size of today’s cards. It was metal with the info on raised letters/numbers so that when placed with several carbons in a device with a big handle that rolled a large heavy embosser over it.
This was before malls, as the store was a collection of smaller departments with fronts onto the street, but connected internally. Next to “Shoes” one went through “Notions” to go down two steps to the lunch counter.
Now I note that on Google maps it is gone and replaced with a B-King with a huge parking lot.
I believe the first “Credit-Card” was actually a heavy clenched fist on a strong hairy arm with the promise to make good on the deal “Later”…Waaayyyy Back…..
I remember when credit cards were placed in a device which rolled over the card and ticket (along with the included carbons.). Savvy folks would ask for those carbons, because there were people searching the trash to find them and get the card number to use for themselves. Furthermore, there was a printed brochure put out monthly listing delinquent cardholders, well before instantaneous electronic checking for funds. That way one could use the card and hope their paycheck came in before the charge was posted !!

How far is Beer from the 1969 lunar landing? (Let’s see how Jason tops that on Sathy Kullivan with his “one time I saw …” schtick.)

Jason is back with his “Take care and may God bless.”. If he wasn’t posting that every day I would think he was ill.
