National Vanilla Ice Cream Day. I have some of that in my freezer.
National Refreshment Day. I could use some of that vanilla ice cream to make a root beer float. That’s a refreshment, right? I happen to have some root beer in my fridge. I also have lemonade if I choose to have that instead.
I was just looking at yesterday’s comments and I want to add my deepest condolences to ladykat at the passing of her husband, Paul. I grieve with you. I feel like we all knew him even though we never met. He fought the brave fight but now his pain is gone and he is free. Why does cancer always seem to take the good people? CANCER SUCKS!!!! I’m so very sorry for your loss, ladykat. :(
Also from yesterday’s comments, marilynnbyerly said, “In an article on dealing with dreams and how to change them while you are having them (lucid dreaming), one of the choices you can make is turning the monster in to a friend. As an animal lover, I always chose that one.”
I had a lot of bad dreams where I was being chased by monsters, but I did learn to control those dreams sometimes. Whenever the monsters would chase me, I’d decide that if I couldn’t run away, I’d simply flap my arms and fly away. I’d soar so high in the air, the monsters couldn’t reach me. Then the dream would become pleasant as I would fly over beautiful countryside, mountains and all sorts of beautiful places – things I’ve never seen in person. Other times, I would start telling myself, “This is just a dream. Wake up!” It wasn’t always easy to wake up from those bad dreams, but they were less scary once I told myself it was just a dream.
To answer yesterdays’ questions about the kitten:1. Peggy is one of the other custodians at the high school2. No chip3. Mostly likely just got let out. People here are horrible.4. We think she might have a tiny bit of Maine Coon because of the ear tufts and HUGE feet5. She settled in right away. The grandson thinks she belongs to him. The husband said she’s his new bff.6. There have been no signs up around the school advertising for a lost kitten.I held her most of the time while at their house. She’s not a squirmy-wormy – she just stays. She’s like a rag doll (but not a ragdoll cat)
When one of my cats didn’t show for a check in, I went out with the other cat to look for him. Fortunately, he always “answers up” when I call. We heard some mysterious meows but I could not locate them. My grey-and-white finally got a lock on the location. I stood behind him and saw that his ears were focused on my neighbor’s garage. I asked the neighbor to open the garage door. My tabby came out from a garage full of motorcycles. He reeked of gas fumes for a while but was otherwise OK.
Update on Toto, the chicken. She had a re-check visit with the vet today. As the swelling was down a lot, but the toe still in an odd position, Dr. Lisa X-rayed the foot, and sure enough whatever caused the cut that got infected, dislocated her toe. So now she is in a splint. In other news, I was out on my front deck chasing a squirrel when a big truck pulled in my driveway. I sort of recognized the young man who got out ….it was the guy who delivered a half cord of wood last fall after being paid for a full cord. I kept after him to bring the rest of the wood or bring me a refund for the 2nd half of the cord. He had every excuse in the world to not do either. Today he handed me $60 and apologized profusely.
Better get a ladder, Chesney. (And a better sense of direction.) On another note, saw a rabbit and a robin while out walking today. I also saw a sparrow outside.
