Now that I see the flat parts of the dishes, they don’t look all that dirty to me. They just needed a good rinse (with hot water of course), ten minutes tops and he would be good.
His way might seem quicker, but you have to take the time to go to the store, pick out a pattern everyone can agree on, and then to top it all off, listen to the “How many times have I told you not to play Jenga with the dishes?” speech again.
He’s finally solved the problem. She will eventually go shopping for new dishes, a dishwasher and a new butler who can help a couple hours a few nights a week. Could be he’ll learn something.
I’ve done this with clean pots and pans, and other non-dish-washerables: pile them up in the dish drainer, making unique and exotic sculptures, until gravity and necessity force me to put them away.
It’s rare that The Born Loser does a week-long story, and I have really enjoyed this one, mainly because I’ve put off washing dishes a time or two (dozen) myself.

Normally when you play a game against yourself, you both lose and win. Only Brutus could lose both sides of the game.

I think he succeeded in never being asked to do the dishes again…ever! So now he’s not a born loser? My head is spinning!

That’s OK, he’ll just have to wash the new dishes that come out of his budget.
