If only this weren’t true…

I once got a letter from my electric company that started with those words. They were telling me that they were going to close the service center that was within walking distance from me, and invited me to drive across town for my future business transactions. To me, that wouldn’t really be serving me better, but they couldn’t say it if it wasn’t true….

“New and improved” is always a lie – “cheaper and worse” is more likely.
