gmartin: (from Lynn Johnson YESTERDAY): These tiny spaces had a bench seat, which converted to a single bed for sleeping, under which – inconveniently stored – was…the loo. I had planned for the “boys” to share one compartment; Katie and I would share the other. The roomettes were so confining, however, that in order for us all to fit, the kids were exchanged. Kate stayed with her dad and Aaron stayed with me. SUSAN: according to www.ViaRail.ca (our national commuter train) it’s 48 hours from Winnipeg Manitoba to Vancouver BC. I’m assuming, since they also had to travel from Lynn Lake to Winnipeg, it’d be a bit longer, maybe 2 days 6 hours or something like that. BUT as flhtcu91 said – some of the flattest, and most beautiful areas of Canada are between the two locations.
Everyone knows that kids never have to “go” at the most convenient and opportunistic of times . . . it’s always the opposite way around when the feeling strikes!!!
I couldn’t find this in any history book: You Canadians there may answer it (my D ad was from Ottawa): does Canadian history parallel US history, with pioneers crossing the Plains, fighting the Native Americans, etc. and reaching the Pacific?

That’s the way it would be in my family. Still, they would keep meeting in the middle, as both kids need to go at the same time.
