Michael could have killed the guy if that marble had gotten stuck in his windpipe. That’s not funny. The kids need to get a long and serious talk about this. Maybe some kind of punishment as well. Not good!
@Gweedo- Who said anything about coal? Haven’t seen any smoke billowing past the windows. (and you might want to lay off Thomas, unless you want a few million goobers jumping on your belly and pummeling you into submission,)
tsk tsk – first class passengers picking on coach passengers. Oh well, coach is more fun. 1948 I was returning from the West on the Oriental Limited (NOT to be confused with the Orient Express) We were rolling along in the evening across Montana, when a SC REAM! came out of the women’s restroom!! Followed by several women hastily exiting! And then the smell of skunk began wafting through the car!! Guess we ran over a skunk just as someone was flushing the toilet. (The Oriental Limited was upgraded about 1950 and renamed the Western Star. Ran until shelved by Amtrak about 1971.) The good old days. Also running similar route is the Empire Builder which first ran in 1929 and upgraded several times since and survived the Amtrak cuts.
Good comment, exturk. It reminded me that I was wondering when Lynn would do a panel on the toilets on the train. Seems like a good story line for the kids to get into. Train toilets….a world of possibilities there.
Especially when if you looked down while flushing, you could see the rail going by. A few years ago, Amtrak did away with “the track flush”system. Guess they also had to dispose of several thousand iconic signs they had posted in each restroom: “PASSENGERS WILL PLEASE REFRAIN FROM FLUSHING TOILETS WHILE THE TRAIN IS IN THE STATION”
Elly needs to keep a better eye on her kids instead of just letting them run amok unsupervised. Just because they’re on a train doesn’t mean something bad couldn’t happen to them . . . especially when they’re doing stupid things like dropping marbles into the mouths of unsuspecting, sleeping train passengers!
Wow… I agree, GretchensMom. Those kids need some supervision. And while the answer is purely for the punch line, I don’t know why Elly is even bothering to ask “why?”
Michael could have killed that man! Punishment by mom isn’t enough in a situation where death could have occurred. If I were that man, I’d press charges!
Thank God for COMICS. They cause supposidly sane people vent wrath upon others. All this time I thought “comic” was defined as being something funny. Not according to most people, I guess.
A “CHILL PILL” should have been something the kids ought to have used. Geez, this is just a cartoon! I do believe the artist could have used something more handy like a napkin which would have been effective enough and also safe, to get the message across, but I guess the marble proved to be more controversial and able to rile up readers..therefore more impact and attention..power to the Strip!

Hey, be lucky they weren’t allowed to bring the jar of bugs along with them.
