One winter when I lived in Lewis County, Washington, I got a Starbuck’s hot chocolate while on the way to a church potluck (the church was a few more blocks away from Starbuck’s). By the time I reached the church, my unfinished hot chocolate had gone lukewarm.

My mom kept the thermostat low too. Luckily my grandma had gotten me a very big and warm blanket for my bed. In addition I slept across from the hot water heater and the heating unit.

Usually it’s the dad who’s obsessed with thermostats.

As a teen, my son would complain that we kept the house too cold. My wife and I would be wearing a seatshirt or sweater and pants. He’d be in his shorts and a T-shirt.

The apartment I moved into at the end of May controls the heat for all the other apartments in the building and it is a hands off thermostat, so it will be quite interesting to see how that goes this winter. I am use to controlling my own heat where I can turn it up if I’m to cold and down if I am to warm.
