Spouse reminds me, forcefully, when I don’t know what she was thinking when she said something (else) to me, that I need to listen better. Truth is: I heard what she said, but she remembers what she thought. Not that I ever do anything like that. Of course on other occasions, she says something that is (stultifyingly unimportant) and it goes right past. I get the same reaction from that, too.
If today’s strip was audio, you would be hearing the wha-wha-wha sound (like they do for the adults in the Charlie Brown specials) in the second and third panels…
Earl, it’s rude to stick your fingers in your ears when your wife is talking. The polite thing is to wait until she’s not looking and then turn off your hearing aids. Or for you younger readers – turn on the noise cancellation on your wireless ear buds.

I often say that the hug is the reason why God gave us two arms. The reason for two ears? Obviously it is for things to go in one ear and clear out the other! :-)

It’s called Plausible Deniability — very useful in politics.

Oooh about now, Earl is in no hurry to rush to the scene of the “accident”!

Actually, just “what Roscoe did in the kitchen” was all the information necessary. Elaboration was mere surplusage.

Pretty sure it includes a cleanup.. so definitely something Opal needs to do before Earl checks it out.

Earl qualifies for today’s Ignorance Is Bliss Award.

Did you ever notice that when one of the pets or the kids does something wrong it suddenly becomes … “Do you know what your dog ( or kid ) just did?”

I have mastered the art of just tuning my wife out, whenever.
