a bottle or two a day, and i really don’t give a burp about my health. or much of anything else. i does get tedious having to make a selection every day, though. decisions, decisions.
T-Bird, Ripple, Wild Irish Rose, Mad Dog, Night Train, oh my. which to choose.
Not many folks can just drink one glass of wine a day or a couple beers at one setting. If I started drinking…I had to drink until I was drunk. That’s why I don’t drink anymore at all. I developed a strong stigma about alcohol. I feel the same thing about tobacco.
A friend of mine spent time in Germany. He said there was no widespread problem with teen age binge drinking. It appears that sometimes stiff laws just create law breakers. I worked with two men that admitted that they stopped drinking at age 21 - it just wasn’t fun anymore!
Interesting, exturk. I wonder if the same thing would work for sex? Take it out of the closet of shame and evil and treat it for what it is, a natural act. I am not saying to encourage it among the young or unmarried but perhaps removing that “doing something naughty” aspect from sex would actually reduce teenage sexual activity instead of increasing it as some naysayers would have it.
I am one of these people who doesn’t imbibe in any form. I’ve studied enough chemistry and biology in high school and college to know what alcohol can do. The only good use I see for that substance is motor fuel (ethanol).
The real reason that many Europeans drink wine and/or beer - the water’s not fit to drink… in spite of Louis Pasteur’s work. No modern water treatment to speak of. Same in Third-World countries.

It does have a medicinal value if you only drink a very small amount of it every day.

A glass or two of wine is good for you. A bottle or two ruined my health.
