    @Number Three Today’s strip IS funny, Monopoly is a game best suited for our HERO Mr Andrew Capp because it reflects on his lifestyle ,owing money and going straight to jail :o) which reminds me that we used to play it when I was a kid , I even made a Maltese version with names of our towns ans villages and since we did not have railways I used our four airports , my avatar is a picture of a button that says" I’m not quite , I’m plotting" so when I’m quite people start to worry :o) how was your day , our day should be busy but calm I hope , keep safe and thanks for caring pal.

    Bit of a misstatement by Flo, how can she enjoy monopoly when it is just like real life?

    I wonder what Andy would do with Community Chest? He always seems more interested in Chance.

    But, Flo, Monopoly doesn’t have a pub or a canal, so it’s not too true to life with Andy!

    But then, Andy at least gets out of the clink free, every once in a while in Monopoly®!

    They have many versions of monopoly, maybe the Andy Capp version could feature all the pubs as the properties, free parking = free loading, Boardwalk ? = the Canal, the railroads = police stations, other odd items could be the track, unemployment offices.

    Er, Flo? Who bails him out of the pokey and/or welcomes him back?

    When I was a kid I made my own Monopoly board, on a piece of poster board, with an extra two-property set in the middle of each row, along with all the traditional sqaures. The prices and rents were the averages of the other traditional properties. (The houses and hotels cost the same as whatever the row cost.) My friends and I played Monopoly like that for YEARS. I’d give a lot to have that board back these days—and those fun TIMES back these days!

    I’m surprised she’s able to keep his attention long enough to play monopoly.

    I play a game called “Board Kings” on my phone and it is basically the child of Monopoly and Coin Master if anybody has heard of that. In the game you attack people’s boards, own their buildings, break their piggy banks and get thrown in jail if you land on a police car. Just like you destroy people’s villages and steal coins on CM.

    It’s pretty fun! However I do have the real life Monopoly (Junior) Love it.

    If by any (small) chance anybody on here plays Board Kings, my friend code is 463-855-647. Feel free to add me.

    xxx

    @Afficionado

    Like I said above, I have the Monopoly Junior version. I was in a games club at school where you could borrow a game and take it home for a few days. I took that one home and I enjoyed it so much that I asked my parents to get me one of my own! Haha.

    I’m meeting my friend on Friday again so that should be good. And I’ve also managed to book a table at the carvery restaurant for the 16th at 5:15pm. A much better time.

    Stay safe, stay well and stay happy, pal.

    I’ve been wondering for (mumble mumble) decades why there wasn’t a better Monopoly (outside of my own version……) Finance and Easy Money (both obvious ripoffs of Monopoly) aside, why not? Not even Parker Brothers exists any more, so we can’t blame THEM. But, in all these (mumble mumble) decades they can’t do better than Monopoly versions for Disney characters, or Warner Brothers characters, or versions for different cities or college towns? Even with dogs (my nephew has one) or for horses (my niece has one). The game mechanics themselves are same ol’ same ol’. I don’t know. Of COURSE having twenty extra properties on a row would throw things out of whack. But TWO? Never mind me, I’m just re-living those happy days of yesteryear………….

    An Andy Capp board game would be interesting. (“fall in canal, lose a turn.”) Well, maybe not interesting, but it would be unique.
