    Good morning™, re-people!

Day 5: still no talking heads, but it looks like this scene has drawn to a close with an extended sound in the night. He’s out of there!

I’m not clear about what “eeeeeeeeeeeee” is. At first, I thought it might be a scream as someone discovered the body, but I suppose that AnyFace is right that it’s a police siren. Expect the scene to shift tomorrow, now that we’ve been properly introduced to the criminal of the tale.

Good morning™, mysterious vitamin EEEEEEEs !

I would think some Whoop Whoop Weeooos would be more indicative of a police siren. This guy looks like a rat that was seen in a dumpster by someone who came out to drop some trash.

The cops here have the “EEEEEEEEEEEE” sirens, I think modern cop cars can switch siren sounds with ease.

I was wondering if this was a Dick Tracy version of “Gotham by Gaslight” set in the late 1800’s ?

It has that “feel” and would be interesting…

The set up of the tale is silent, fast, and deadly. Not a word in five strips, yet so much is conveyed. From work area of the killer’s lair, where his deadly implement was fashioned, to the street where his victim met her unfortunate, gory demise. His intention is clear. The lady would bear witness if she could. She is silent as the siren shatters the quiet night. The villain flees. Justice will find him…eventually.

I predict that at the end of this story line, Marcel Marceau will pop up and say, “NO!”.

So, the device over his eye on day one was some sort of magnification device for the work he was doing rather than part of his normal appearance. (Unless artist was having a really bad day.)

Dialogue wasn’t needed to tell the story and I’ve enjoyed this. On the down side, since we can’t have violence, tomorrow we’ll have Tracy standing in the alley telling Sam that it was all an elaborate purse snatching.

THE SHARP TOOTHED INSULT COMIC: QUITCHER SCREAMING ALREADY…

…Oscar the Grouch is so squeamish! Last time I do a bit for Sesame Street. Sesame Street has kind a gone to hell anyway. Looks like from all these yellow tags they’re moving to 21 Jump Street. Must be trying to reach a new viewership – dirty old men who wanna check out a young Yvette Nipar. SAAA-NAPPP!

Mike: “Do you have any ideas for the script?”

Joe: “No, do you have any ideas for the script?”

Mike: “No, I was wondering if you had any ideas.”

No words are needed. Wannabe Dracula is startled by the wail of a siren (if that is indeed what it is) and bolts down the alley. Blondie, we must surmise, is left lying at the bottom of that jumble of discarded boxes and overflowing garbage cans.. I further suppose that it will be found that her neck bears two closely-spaced puncture wounds, as if made by sharp artificial fangs….

And, finally, I suspect there will be words….

While I’ve joked about the script, the artwork you cannot. And it’s not just Joe and Mike either, it’s the GC colourist that really does it. I wonder who the colourist is because it doesn’t look “cartoony” at all?

Annie is a DT character by adoption, get over it. (Those eerie eyes without pupils, though. Was it made to spare ink perhaps?). The story seems promising, and Brenda Starr id gorgeous!
