I used to do that a lot when I was a kid, hanging my head upside down from my bed and look at the ceiling as if it were the floor. I thought it was neat except for the spinning ceiling fan looking like the sort of trap that James Bond or Indiana Jones would encounter.

I’ll bet he still tries to get from one end of the room to the other without stepping on the floor, too.

Is she rolling her eyes or staring at her odd poses in the upper panels?

This strip reminds me of the old English march that was played at Lord Cornwall’s surrender at Yorktown.

Arlo is just confirming that Janis looks good from any angle.

If he’d been lying on the floor looking up when she walked by, she’d have rolled her eyes right out of her head.

I think Argo just wants a different look oF Janis!

In my younger days, I threw a 33 1/3 birthday party for the singer/songwriter I was doing for/sharing a house with; in the course of feloniuosly (this was a while back….) enjoying ourselves, we ended up with everybody “sitting” like that for about an hour; great fun!

Arlo never grows up, but then, why should he?

Reminds me of when I see my son playing video games with his various sitting and vertebrae-challenging positions.

I guess Arlo and Luddy are just trying to adapt to a year in which the world turned upside-down.

Arlo just decided to view the world as Ludie does for awhile. Get a new perspective so to speak. Nothin’ better to do.

I particularly like Janis’ reaction. She’s keeping a wary eye on him at first. Then realizes it’s another one of Arlo’s unique behaviors and gives up trying to understand. Her expression is a mom thing.

We did art drawing lessons that way in elementary school. Most students could almost draw very accurately and realistically when drawing upside down…different than drawing right side up.

JJ sure doesn’t have any ideas today.

My roommate’s cat spends a lot of time sprawled on its back. Tummy rubs will get you instantly bit. I think he lies on his back as a temptation, just so he can bite peoples.

Life is all a matter of perspective.
