Old newspapers were uncovered and apparently during the blitz in London many protested the nigh time curfew and it’s negative effects on businesses. There was a lot of pushback from some against the mandatory bomb shelter in place orders. The anti-maskers refused to comply with the suggestion that gas masks be worn when mustard gas was present. Strange that there are no accounts of those survivors telling their stories.
As a lad, I read my uncle’s “boy’s adventure” books from WWII, mostly about the derring-do of an intrepid fighter pilot and his band of misfits. Mostly in the Pacific, fighting the nearsighted, buck-toothed “sons of Nippon.” Not really too generous to our foes, there. The books are lost to history, and also the poor paper they were printed on, crumbling by the early Seventies.

I love the word “conflate” mostly because of its explanatory value.
But also because more than a few times I’ve been accused of making it up.

With a name like “Gimmel,” I would have thought the cartoonist was a CENSORED himself. Maybe a self-hating CENSORED?

I will look at Billy Dare with suspicion from now on.
Not too sure about Quentin either.
