Actually, the changes in the rules will not change much. How hard will it be for people classified as LGBTQ to reach 30% of the production staff in a musical theater production? They would probably have to cut a percentage to reach that number.

Um. What? We have a pandemic. The West coast (and many non US locations) are burning. We have super-hurricanes. We have well founded allegations of fraud and treasonous invitations for foreign intervention in our elections. We have millions of people marching about police racism. “Apocalypse NOW” is becoming less fiction and more prediction. And Ramirez runs THIS???

The PC crew continues to get out of hand. Clearly the scene needed 15% black Germans, a couple of Islamic townspeople, and a few Latinos to make the movie acceptable.

No, what we need is editorial oversight for a ridiculous cartoonist.

The new rules are either a stupid or hypocrite decision because the requirements are extremely easy to achieve. You don’t need to touch anything to the subject and the cast to meet the quotas, as long as there are women, poc or other minorities working as interns in the studio or in some positions in the crew, which has been the case for long. I don’t think any nominated film in the past 20 years wouldn’t qualify. On the other hand, it’s clumsy because it’s also like pushing LGBTQ+ people in the crew to be outed or at least singled out so as to show there is diversity enough. And of course it if went as far as deciding which subjects are considered “good” or not it would be fascism. It could happen, the worst censorships in history often started with good intentions.

Now we need the NBA to require 40% white players, 20% hispanic and 5% Asian. THEN I will agree with the “diversity quotas”! :-)

Like Yale, they’ll never let those Asians in.
