Of course Tracy would like to see it. Who could have sent this? Was it Stokes? Maybe it was one of those people who were chatting on that site Honeymoon found.
Hmmm… black jacket, red shirt, white gloves… Gasp! Is it just a coincidence that Sven is wearing the exact same outfit as we saw on Kadaver’s arm reaching out from the river?
With the pumps and collection tank and tubing we saw for Stokes’ device there is no way something like that would fit in the box shown. Either the artist forgot what he’s already drawn or the thing inside has nothing to do with the case. The strip only shows Tracy finding BIG clues. It would be nice if it showed that much of a real detective’s work is establishing that something that looks like a steaming pile of nothing is really a steaming pile of nothing, and not the clue that breaks the case.
In the real world, I’d be surprised if something like that "working artificial vampire system would make it as far as Sven’s dressing room. I’m sure security at Weigel would’ve intercepted it first. But here it makes for an interesting plot addition.
Congratulations boys and girls, you have just endured a week of NOTHING HAPPENING IN THIS STORY… don’t worry, you’ll get used to it…. it happens very VERY frequently
1-SVEN: Hey Trace – it’s ok if I call you Trace, isn’t it? Good. How about making a cameo on my show tonight? Here’s your costume …
2-…and here’s your line. So?
3-DT: I can’t do anything that would embarrass the Department.
SVEN: Of course not. You’ll play my twin who was dropped on his head at birth. You’ll be done up like me and you’ll just jump and grab at the bats dangling from fishing poles while you yell “LUNCH, LUNCH”. Then I’ll introduce you as the Chief of Police of Tracyville while the camera closes in on you drooling a little.
DT: I’m not sure the Chief would like that.
SVEN: Sure he will! We kid all the time. Why just last week he had me served with a warrant for a little crime I may have committed years ago. I’m just, a, you know, teasing him back for that! that dirty old SOB digging up ancient crap on me, I’ll show…
The “working artificial vampire system” could break the case wide open. If it is similar to or the same as Stokes’s rig, some elementary detective work ought to able to trace down the manufacturer(s) of the components and then the customers (since “everyone” except me shops online and pays by credit card, the information will be there and available to the cops). We saw Stokes sharpening the artificial fangs, but we don’t know that he is also enough of a machinist to have made the rest of the rig from scratch!

Good morning™, pending reveals !
I bet this is not quite the sophisticated rig that Stokes uses but it puts Tracy wise to the concept of high speed drainage.
Glad to see Sven participating, now that the shilling is done ……… for now.

If it’s the same as Stokes’ rig, they can search for everyone who downloaded the instructions. Cut to the yawn. Congress moves faster than this story.

Will Sven mention Tracy tonight? Hmmmm!

I’m hoping one of those Pop Goes the Weasel clowns comes out of the box.

As Mills said to Somerset in Se7en, “What’s in the box?”

Tracy inspected the contents of the box. It took a bit, but he eventually realized where the admiring fan had acquiring the item in question.
