Unless you must have a particular “make and model” in a pet, your best bet is to go to the Humane Society.
I have pretty thick skin but somehow making a joke about animals in a shelter is just sick. Most government run shelters (local, state, whatever) are kill shelters. Because of human ignorance and neglect, the animals suffer. Not funny at all.
