“Does anyone really know what time it is? Does anyone really care?”
The battery in my watch is dead so I’m using an old wind up until I can get a new one. Dang, those wind ups are bad with keeping time and staying wound.
National Punctuation Day. So many people these days don’t know how to use punctuation. One of my own nieces writes everything as one long sentence – not a comma or period or any type of punctuation at all.
National Cherries Jubilee Day
Schwenkfelder Thanksgiving Day. I thought my spell-check would have a problem with that name, but it didn’t. I had to look this up to see what it is, Here is part of what it said:
On September 24th Schwenkfelder Thanksgiving expresses thanks in a way that dates back to 1734.
The Schwenkfelders are the descendants of a small Protestant sect that sprang up in Germany around the time of the Reformation. They were followers of Caspar Schwenkfeld, a theologian. He and his followers separated from Protestant circles and formed the brotherhoods that still survive as the Schwenkfelder Church. Most Schwenkfelders now live in Pennsylvania Dutch country.
There is a county school system in my area that had to stop in-the-classroom education due to lack of enough teachers and substitute teachers. Some teachers either had Covid-19 or had been exposed to it so they were self-quarantining at home.
There really was a woman who sold the time of day.“From 1836 to 1940, the Bellville family of London operated a business of letting people know the time. Ruth Bellville, the most famous member of that family, walked around London with a high grade watch that had been set to within one tenth of a second of the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. For a fee, she’d tell you the current time.”https://www.neatorama.com/2011/09/19/ruth-belville-the-woman-who-sold-time/
When I used to spend a lot of time walking around in Santa Barbara in the 70s, I would frequently encounter people who did not wear watches. They would ask me for the time. Most days they would react to the time of day information with “Wow!”. It was always “Wow o’clock” in Santa Barbara.
What time is it? Time to send those two kitty con artists to the loading dock! 9Sorry if that sounds mean.) On another note, saw two chickadees while out walking today. I also saw a rabbit on the way home from the Library.

$650 for a brief use of a $20 watch. Sounds like a money-making time share model.

The rain came in today, big time. It should help the fires up here. Not sure about California, though.
