It drove me crazy when my dad stirred his coffee like this. He also sipped with audible slurps—unaware of how awful it sounded. Dad has been gone for long time, now. I wish I could hear him stir his coffee again.
Sounds like a Korean eating soup. Before you get all outraged, loud soup slurping is a compliment to the soup chef in Korea. At least it was last time I was there.
I have a tiny vase of wooden coffee stirrers on our kitchen table just because I just hate the sound of that tinking on the cup. The sugar bowl is there with only one tiny spoon, the kind that won’t reach the bottom, just in case someone might use that spoon by mistake to stir their tea or coffee… even though I pointed out the stirrers at the same time…
Then they are embarassed when they finish and have that quizzical look of their face about what to do with the spoon, because they don’t want to put a wet spoon back into the sugar bowl, I take it from them, and point out the stirrers again…
But not any more, because over the years, the same people come over, and by now they know…

The slurping is far more disconcerting than the tinking of the mug.

I suppose the typist meant another month or 80 days. But why 80 days? What is the significance of 80? Why not say another month or 60 days?

I still hate that such things could be forced on a person at all.

Is a soup chef related to a sous-chef?

My dad used to do this – newspaper in one hand, teaspoon in the teacup in the other. Round and around and around and …………………….

yes indeed they are, especially if you have no idea that you are doing something that really annoys other people

Tinking and slurping are on an even race. Slurping is a 1/8 th point ahead.

Coffee is not a habit. Coffee is a necessity.
