Wish I knew the cure! Best I can do… go make a cup of tea and a PB&J… sit and enjoy… wait for it to finish downloading! Don’t do anything else on the computer… and it goes a wee bit faster.

Ha ha! That’s exactly how we watched the Roland Garros finals on Sunday. The tennis ball allways froze in the mid-flight and we had LOTS of time to speculate If it was going in or out

I was lucky. I figured out how to “Remote-Control” my office PC (T1 line) through a 1200-Baud Modem (DOS-Based). If I downloaded something big that would have taken forever over the modem, I just stored it on my office PC and got it later. I even wrote a program on my office PC that just looped around checking for a specific time of day, so that it wouldn’t grab the phone line on every incoming call on that line.

This is me in 2007 trying to download a 32-megabyte file on 56K dial-up (Netzero). All my friends asked “Why do I always get a busy signal?”
