I always found long swims were a lot like meditation, I lose track of everything except the rhythmic experience and my mind going like a frictionless flywheel
Its funny when I was a competitive swimmer as a kid, my dad didn’t know a thing about swimming. So he took movies of me swimming, and we watched reruns of the summer olympic swimming events, and read books on stroke techniques so I could improve. In retrospect, I almost can’t believe any of that was interesting for him, but it was huge for me, and I did get better. Even got to pretty good – but not elite.

Thinking that you may be doing something wrong is part of what makes you do it right.

Swimming is basically an unnatural thing, for people who descended from brachiators.

I swim for fun and exercise, but I’ve talked to people who are really good. Frazz is exactly right!

Translate elite swimmer to anyone who wishes to rise to the top of their profession or artistic talents. They don’t get there by slacking on technique

There’s fish and sometimes coral to see. Like all sight seeing, it works better if you slow down. Bring some air (SCUBA) and enjoy the sights.
