Not very many people get excited over Halloween for more than, oh, a dozen years. Though I got a little contact-excitement when my kid was being excited…
Which makes it also a blue moon Halloween! It’s been on my calendar to have a party on that day for 5 years ( I don’t give a lot of parties, and have never hosted a Halloween party, just for context)! Oh well….
Since our neighborhood youngsters went off to college students or to jobs and life. we get maybe half a dozen every other year or so. As very senior citizens, we decided this would be a good year to take a pass and just pray for better times.
I was so looking forward to this being the year I finally went BIG for Halloween! I work a 9/80 schedule, so I have alternate Fridays off. And this year, it’s this Friday. So I would have two full days to get things ready. I wanted to make a haunted house in my garage, like my dad always did when I was growing up. (I’ve got most of the spooky props and things that my family had collected through the years.)
But then covid-19 came along. And snow. I’m in Minnesota; I remember the Halloween Blizzard in ‘91. But it took us all by surprise, and a lot of kids still trick-or-treated. This year, the cold and snow already came; it’s going to warm up to 50 on Saturday, but the snow hasn’t melted yet so it’s probably going to be really sloppy and yucky on Saturday with all the snowmelt. (We got a total of over 9" already, which beats 1991’s 8.5" for snowiest October.) That’ll cut down on trick or treaters. But covid on top of that — I’m sure there will at least be some, but it’s feeling really subdued. I bet it’s going to be a small crowd.
I will console myself by buying exactly the same amount of candy, and then slowly eating it until Christmas. ;-)
We DID have control of one of them. Obama had medical teams set up in hot spots all over the world, including 44 people in a clinic in the Chinese province where Trump’s plague began. Their job was to watch for any outbreaks, isolate them and stamp them out at the source. The plan was to send more help in whenever a threat was found. Trump cut that team out of the 2018 budget.

Well, the next one’s not until 2039, so make the most of it.

I guess Mallett is using Caulfield to say that we could have done better to control the spread and maybe saved Hallowe’en.

It’s also the end of daylight savings time so “overnight” lasts an extra hour!

After Oct. 31, 2020, the next Halloween full moon (also a blue moon) will occur in 2039, 2058, 2077 and 2096, according to the Farmers’ Almanac.

Well, control is, you know, hard.
So, Our Messiah will just lie about it.
Not only much, much easier, but he is a lifelong expert.
.
And Mexico will pay for it.

Better incorporate facemasks into your costumes.
