Mother loved making elaborate costume sets for our Church Halloween costume party. She would begin designing in July, start measuring and fitting in August, and sewing in September. One year my older brother and I went as Pogo and Albert. Another year, we went as Johnny Appleseed and an apple tree with real apples on the branches. In 1956 a friend and I went as the Republican elephant and Democratic donkey, each wearing a small sign that said “VOTE !”
Every year for ten years, her costumes won the category 1st prize, and the best costume overall prize.
When it came my own kids’ turn, I did the same for them. They went as everything from Smurffs to St. George and a dragon.

Actually, that’s a pretty kool costume, and Pasquale is lucky to have a dad who teaches him that enjoying such things is OK for a boy to do.

That’s how Pasquale must feel after a haircut by you, Jimbo!

Jimbo should do well. Let’s see— one candy bar per arm times eight arms times how many(?) houses.

The sad truth is that Aunt Betty keeps doing this to Jimbo every year because she has a Sadistic Streak.
And, she never liked Jimbo very much. She thinks Rose could have done better.
Aunt Betty introduced Rose to such a Nice Doctor …

Why wouldn’t you want an octopus costume?

That one is actually kinda cool! Much better than Jimbo usually gets from Aunt Betty.
