That sounds like something that somebody with a secret passageway door would say.

Because you say “how come” instead of “why.”

But are the books real? Furniture stores often show off their bookcases with cardboard imitations of books.

Come to think of it, there may be a business opportunity for imitation cardboard bookcases as ZOOM backgrounds, but maybe the right time for that is past.

Who said a secret passageway can’t have books?

The secret passageway is over here. It leads to the secret cave below my stately manor.

REAL bookcases are filled with books of different sizes. Real readers have multiple bookcases of different shapes, styles, and sizes with more books piled on the tops because they need to get another bookcase :)

If there was a secret passage it would connect to the kitchen. The one in the Lounge connects to the Conservatory.
