I remember doing that.. As well as moving the outdoor antenna.. relaying messages through 2 brothers.. with “is it better now?”. Our one channel (4) from Spokane had more ghosts and static than actual picture.. But it was a miracle to us at the time.
I still remember the very first episode of Monty Python I ever saw. I worked with the antenna in various positions and moving the little B&W TV around to different spots in the apartment to try and get the PBS station in well enough to watch it. Finally, the only way, was to hold the antenna in my hand as I watched… ☺

With six kids, my Dad never needed a remote control or antenna adjusting… proud to serve! And TWO channels too! :>)
