    It’s due to sheer jealousy. :)

    Ants appear to be highly industrious, build complicated infrastructure, move literally tons of material without complaint (that we can hear), and persist despite every effort to terminate them. Similar in many ways to the bee. Humans can’t accept that way of life, although many of them follow exactly that pattern. The difference is, humans often broadcast their misery (real or imagined) aloud and at high volume.
