I would say “Organize the junk drawer” is a good idea, but then, it would no longer be a junk drawer.

I always have paper and a pen in my shirt pocket. Now all I need is a good idea.

Pen and paper in shirt pocket. Mostly notes on things to pick up at Lowe’s.

I say the good idea out loud, whether I’m alone or not. It gets the idea into both sides of the brain and easier to remember until I can write it down. :)

We need an artificially intelligent junk drawer. You toss an item in it and the AI would scan and analyze the object to determine where it should go. Then it would place the object in the proper bin. Next time you needed a thingamajig or Fallopian tube, you open the proper bin and there’s the item you need.

Even good ideas written down may not seem so good when you look at them later

I start each day by writing on my hand the location of pen and paper. Not having to worry about where pen and paper are has made my life less stressful. Feel free to use my method if you like, perhaps make a donation to the local food bank if you find it useful.

My pen and paper is called Notes on my phone. Sorry for the folks whose phone has a cord and dial.
