Sadly, too many Cuban Floridians still hold the Democratic Party in disdain for the Bay of Pigs fiasco when Kennedy withdrew his support in the invasion leaving many expats to be killed or captured by Castro’s forces and CIA coordinators in the same boat. That hatred for Kennedy has been handed down to subsequent generations leaving a large Latino base in the Florida Republican Party. Too bad they haven’t been able to get over it or even realize that tRump’s party isn’t the Republican Party anymore.
I worked with Cubans as a social worker on the Cuban Refugee Program back in the 70s. They were remarkable people who networked like crazy and actually left me with little to do. The thing is, they (understandably) had a major case of the ass about Castro/communism – and nearly a half century later are still easily triggered by anything that smacks of socialism. The attempts to label Democrats as socialists was all it took to push them toward the fascist movement in the Republican party. They hate socialism more than fascism, in spite of considerations about which is the greater threat to this Republic.
BFD, Cuban-Americans are very conservative people. How about you Reich-wingers pointing out how Hair Groppingfuror is puking on U.S. democratic principles with his every pronouncement this week?
They seem to have forgotten that any Cuban who made it to the US was welcomed with open arms. None of them were locked up in cages like El Duche has done.

Inside the machine to turn out Arizona Latinos — and flip the state blue
“I don’t think there would have been this kind of energy had Donald Trump not been president.”
And if Democratic nominee Joe Biden is going to hit 70 percent support among Arizona Latinos, a percentage most say he needs, it will be because of Unite Here, the union representing Arizona hospitality workers like Salinas, and grassroots groups like the Latino-run LUCHA.
A Democratic presidential candidate hasn’t won the state in more than 20 years. But Democrats are hopeful that as more Latinos become politically active here — animated by battles against the anti-undocumented immigrant SB1070 bill and former Sheriff Joe Arpaio who illegally profiled Latino — this year could be the year the Republican grip on Arizona breaks. Right now, Biden is leading in Arizona. But on the ground, most Democrats , say the race is a toss-up.
“We’ve never truly been a swing state,” said Juliana Manzanarez, 29, a Phoenix-based immigration attorney. “If we’re going to turn blue, then this is the election we’ll turn blue. I don’t know that it’s going to happen in another four years.”
‘All Paths to 270 Lead Through the Latino Electorate’
“Todos Con Biden y Harris” literature drop last weekend in Phoenix.
“I don’t think there would have been this kind of energy [in Arizona] had Donald Trump not been president,” said Manzanarez, articulating what many pollsters have said. Trump served as an accelerant in a changing Arizona. Many activists and strategists question whether it would be in play had a vastly different kind of Republican won.
That’s not accurate, Rump won the Cuban-American vote in Miami-Dade. The Puerto Rican vote was 72% to 76% percent in the rest of Florida. The Latino vote delivered Wisconsin and Michigan, but not to Rump…. He’s just whistling dixie.

Yeah. The polls lied. Again. Every time the Mango Mistake is on the ballot, pollsters get it wrong, but otherwise, they’re spot on. What’s THAT about?

Meanwhile, it looks grim for Trump’s reelection chances.

After all that”s happening with this election, THIS is what you came up wth ms Benson ?
The sound Trump is making as he walks away from reality is not whistling, it’s screaming and hollering in despair and frustration.

Latinos knew what party creates jobs, and which one creates mobs.

Why folk continue to vote against their own best interest is the question of the ages. Russian mind control seems to have made substantial advances.

Welp, apparently Latinos don’t like being told who to vote for by the Democrats who keep the other minorities under their thumb. Good call, Lisa !

I love how lisa is proud of it after all the disrespect the rump threw at the Latino community. That a toad.

Many Cuban-Americans in Florida still haven’t forgiven the Democrats for sending Elian Gonzales back to Cuba, during the Clinton administration.
