I’m old school so I Still carry a winter emergency kit in a milk crate. Takes up very little room and I can set it in the basement when not in use. Only thing I swap out each year is a few candy bars or an MRI (depends on the age). Phone won’t do you any good if you’re stuck on the highway in a traffic jam or due to snow and no one can get to you.

You’ve never forgotten to bring your phone? Or charge it?

Are you sure.. your phone can keep you warm for the 4 hours it takes for help to get to you? On this side of the fence its a pretty definitive, no.

Blankets, a shovel and a box of kitty litter for the snow, and we’re set. (and the phone, and lunch, and hot chocolate……)

Outfits like North Shore Rescue are having to rescue more people like that these days because they think a cell phone is all they need…
