I’ve never understood waiting until the last day (or night) to do one’s taxes. I always try to do them fairly early – if I owed something (which I used to most years) then I might not actually PAY until closer to the deadline, but at least get them filed! My only real complaint about any of the deadlines is that it often takes so long to get W-2’s or other income statements. I had heard that these were supposed to be in the taxpayers hands by January 31 but I frequently have not received them until well into February, which tends to hold things up a bit.
