    Andy’ll never grasp to the iron rod; he’ll just continue walking in the mists of darkness.

    It’s a terrible burden and someone’s got to carry it. Fortunately Andy is just the man for the job.

    He will just have to go to the nearest Pub, and ease the burden somehow.

    @Number Three Today’s strip IS funny, but it’s a repeat our HERO Mr Andrew Capp snappy answer to the meddling Vicar is to the point , the Cleric should have known by now that work is a four letter word for Andy :o) my avatar is a cartoon I have used before of Janis seeing the bright side , a torrential rain is also free water, like it has happened here , it started raining yesterday at 8pm and stopped early this morning at 6am so loudly that I could not sleep but at least I won’t have to water my front and back gardens :o), how was your day? our day should be busy but calm I hope , it’s stopped raining , we have run our errands and now we can relax , Bella sends her love :o) keep safe and thanks for caring pal

    I’m sure that the Vicar would be singing a different tune if Andy made a “contribution” to the Vicar’s pastorage!!

    Andy Capp reminds me of one of my favorite British TV characters, Compo Simmonite. Two men that leave a lasting impression on those they meet.

    Just passing? I remember meeting a rather observant Muslim friend in, of all places, the liquor store. He said to me in a low voice, “I hope you understand that I am just buying some wine for my GUESTS.” I have no doubt that not a drop of the stuff passed his lips.

    As a youth I was enamored at the idea of being a professional gambler. I had a good memory, was pretty smart and could count cards and such. Didn’t know much about horses, but knew something about analytics before it was a thing. It seemed like a pretty easy life! Then I started seriously studying stats (I bet you didn’t realize that practically all examples are about games of chance until you get to grad school!) and talking with people who lived that lifestyle and realized … you still have to spend bunches of hours at blackjack or poker tables. Back then casinos were smoky and you had to be able to LOSE money to make money. Couldn’t take the stress, so I got a real job … in IT support. All the aggravation … about the same money on a predictable schedule.

    What would the vicar do if Andy offered to donate part of the money to the church? (Besides fainting from the shock, I mean.)

    I agree completely with the vicar. It was always wonderful when I checked my bank account and saw that my wages were in.

    I was “only” a Receptionist and that’s all I ever want to be. I have never been the most ambitious person and that’s OK. I am who I am.

    I miss working. Now I can’t even do my volunteering as we are in lockdown until the 2nd.

    xxx

    @Afficionado

    I have been woken up by the sound of loud rain before. However it beats getting woken up by the window cleaners who come every 2 weeks. Talk about a racket! One of them is called Mick who actually lives next door to us. So we don’t hear his loud voice every 2 weeks. We hear it most days. Lord help us. Haha.

    I always enjoy getting my hair wet when it’s raining. It makes it all wavy. I hate the feeling of wearing a coat hood. I like to be “free”

    Aww. Nothing like a bit of “Kitty Love” even though I’m a dog person.

    Stay safe, stay well and stay happy, pal.

    Love x2 to Bella.
