I do believe, Sr. Martin, that you would have loved the commentary of a friend of mine who absolutely hated competition of any sort! The late engineer and astronavigator, Dan Alderson (of NASA) has such a poor self image that many remarked upon it. Once, when a mutual friend was with Dan and a group of others, someone suggested, "You know, we ought to hold a ‘low-self-esteem’ contest! Dan sighed and said “I’d probably lose.”
Poor Dan. he was (at the time) one of only three humans on Earth who could plot the course of rockets, orbital satellites et cetera. He coordinated the Moon landing! The other two persons were in the Soviet Union! he was, very literally, a national treasure! But the man I knew was painfully shy and had no belief in himself or his abilities. We still loved him and did our best with him. He died of complications of diabetes, and I still feel awful about it. he was only in his early fifties or late forties when he died.

Lotsa great quadrille music out there; too bad he didn’t stick with the dance!

So Senor Martin. You were the best at competing to see who was the best non-competitor? Keep them coming!
