I have always worked where there was easy access to “no added charge” snax and bevvies. Unsurprisingly, now that I’m retired, having an adjacent kitchen hasn’t really done much to affect my waistline. Too bad, I could use a bit of shrinkage.
The desk move is a good idea. You won’t suffer with that constant uncertainty over what could be happening in the kitchen. Plus, it will be so much quicker and easier to refresh, reheat, or replace the caffeinated beverage of your choice.
For better or worse, almost none of my job could be done from home, and I’ve been going in as usual. Our break room is at the other end of the building from where I spend most of my time, but the coffee machine is just ten feet away. Good enough.
This is actually my biggest challenge. I am fortunate that 100% of my work is suited to the home environment, but the kitchen is definitely far too accessible.
The biggest thing that happened to me is that somewhere in this the defined “available” hours of my day suddenly expanded. Somehow I am on business calls from 6:30 in the morning until 9 at night.
Believe it or not, I grew up when houses were built with walk in pantry’s, not the fake news one pictured here, which are actually too dark: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantry
Did switch from having a salad and orange with lunch in the cafeteria or break room (depending on whether I was at a hospital or my office) to having them as a separate midafternoon snack.

Just work from the kitchen table and save the energy and time of walking there.

Some ergonomic experts recommend standing up once every 15 minutes. This works unless there is a kitchen nearby.

Pig should consider converting his closet into a mini-kitchen so that he can spend the entire day in bed.

Or you could just completely skip work and straight up LIVE in the pantry. Just sayin’.

Pastis went back into quarantine again. Barely stuck his head out yesterday and apparently didn’t like what he saw.

That is a very real problem spending so much time at home…if only I could move my desk into a donut shop!

Pig is a pig, after all, so we shouldn’t expect too much of him. But, what I want to know is, what is his job?
