Highly improbable that the coup will be successful.

However, as part of the strategy to inflict maximum damage to America, it fits perfectly.

    .

And in other news — Republicans* in Georgia have recently discovered that death threats can be, you know, bad.

Seems they get a little skittish when violence and threats are directed at them.

The guy who admonished the two Georgia Senators that they need to condemn the violence, made it clear he still supports them. Another in the long, long list of Trump Disciple analysis skills that cannot be parodied.

It’s highly improbable that a coup will be attempted.

tRump is putting on a show to get his minions to contribute to what his web site says is the on going effort to save his election. But the fine print says that the bulk of the contributions go to his Save America PAC. A Leadership PAC that has few restrictions on how it can spend the money.

“The money in the Save America PAC, unlike money contributed to a standard campaign committee, can be used to benefit Trump in innumerable ways. Memberships at golf clubs. Travel. Rallies. Even payments directly to Trump himself, as long as he declares it as income.”

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/12/01/what-trump-familys-new-political-committees-can-cant-do/

Personally I think that tRump is running this con game to pay off the hundreds of millions of dollars in loans that are coming due in the next four years.

There’ll be no coup, Stantisfernuthin. There will be mass murders episodes conducted by right-wing populists. Let’s be adults and watch for the realistic threats.

    Ouch, that hit a nerve…

Some studies are leading researchers to believe that Republicans don’t actually believe what they say, that the election was stolen.

The shiny object being focused on… is the coup talk….

The actual problem is the GOP’s concerted efforts to damage the U.S. as their political re-election strategy.

The GOP 2022 & 2024 message will be a far less honest variation of : “Why haven’t the Dems fixed the mess we made in 2017 to 2021?”

Building something can take years… Destroying it, can just take seconds….

    ~

The problem is not just that President Donald Trump is denying the outcome of the Nov. 3 election and seemingly attempting a coup to reverse that result.

It’s that on almost every front from COVID-19 response and economic rescue plans to the fate of hotspots such as Afghanistan and Iran, the outgoing president is sowing chaos within his own administration that has left every world capital in a muddle and President-elect Joe Biden in a bind.

The most immediate and dangerous challenge is the Trump administration’s failure to respond to the alarming upswing in COVID-19 cases, or to coordinate pandemic response or vaccine distribution with the incoming Biden team.

But that same scorched-earth policy applies to the economic carnage caused by the virus, which is likely to persist next year as cases and deaths increase dramatically.

The latest confusion erupted Thursday when U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin told Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell in a letter that he wants the Fed to close down most of its emergency lending facilities, even as COVID cases reach new highs across the country that will no doubt be exacerbated by the coming winter weather, flu season and holiday travel.

On Friday CNN reported that more than 2,300 Americans could be losing their lives every day by Dec. 18, according to new numbers from the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME).

“We expect daily deaths to reach a peak of over 2,500 a day in mid-January,” the IHME modeling team said.

I think when this is over, we need to revisit some of our systems to strengthen checks and balances. Trump is now investigating a pre-emptive pardon of his own kids (which, obviously, goes along with tweeting “LAW AND ORDER!” in all caps). This really is third-world-dictator stuff.

We also need to disempower the Senate Majority Leader. The job isn’t even mentioned in the Constitution, and it’s insane that one man who was only voted for by the people of Kentucky can unilaterally obstruct the workings of the Government, and destroy a President’s right to appoint judges.

It’s always fun watching the GOP play the “Ouroboros” game…

    ~

A Republican candidate for Congress who lost his election on Nov. 3 says his name is being used without permission as a plaintiff in a federal lawsuit to make President Donald Trump the winner of Wisconsin’s presidential election, despite receiving fewer votes than President-elect Joe Biden.

Derrick Van Orden, who narrowly lost to U.S. Rep. Ron Kind, said Tuesday he learned through social media posts about the lawsuit that his name was being used.

“I learned through social media today that my name was included in a lawsuit without my permission,” Van Orden said in a statement. “To be clear, I am not involved in the lawsuit seeking to overturn the election in Wisconsin.”

The lawsuit is one of dozens filed by Powell and one of many that include serious factual errors. In the Wisconsin lawsuit, Powell seeks video footage of vote counting in the TCF Center. But the TCF Center is in Detroit, which is not in Wisconsin.

In another lawsuit Powell filed in Michigan, she cites a witness who claimed to have seen something strange with votes being counted in Edison County. But there is no Edison County in Michigan.

Powell has filed several lawsuits in key states where Biden has won, many alleging unfounded conspiracy theories. The Trump campaign last month disavowed Powell after she made claims in a news conference about a payoff scheme to manipulate voting machines.

    Even more GOP Autophagy….

    ~

Fox Business Network host and top Donald Trump sycophant Lou Dobbs was absolutely beside himself on Tuesday over the news that Attorney General William Barr said there was no evidence of widespread voter fraud that could change the election results.

Dobbs even accused Trump’s loyal A.G. of being part of the “deep state” and “perhaps compromised.”

The pro-Trump TV personality, who has been one of the loudest boosters of the president’s baseless “rigged” election narrative, kicked off his program Tuesday evening by erupting at the attorney general for admitting the Justice Department has been unable to find any proof to back Trump’s claims that President-elect Joe Biden “stole” the election.

Grumbling that Barr has “been absent for weeks,” Dobbs insisted that the president’s legal team is “making advances” in the “battle for the White House” while reassuring his viewers that the campaign’s beyond-longshot lawsuits will “bolster President Trump’s charge that there has been clear electoral fraud.”

Seething at Barr’s remarks about the lack of evidence of voter fraud, Dobbs—who also serves as an informal Trump adviser—blasted the attorney general in an extremely personal manner.

“For the attorney general of the United States to make that statement, he is either a liar or a fool or both,” he exclaimed.

“He may be, um, perhaps compromised. He may be simply unprincipled. Or he may be personally distraught or ill!”

The Fox Business host would go on to cite the various conspiracies and unfounded allegations that Trump and his legal team have peddled, despite the fact that the president’s legal challenges have repeatedly been laughed out of court and states continue to certify their votes.

so, let me get this straight. Carmen, the uber Republican has morphed into a Democrat, while, Winslow the token democrat is now……? some days a democrat while on other days appears to be a Libertarian. I am so confused.

Its as if Stantis can’t make up his mind if he is pro or anti Trump. Meanwhile, in other Stantis ’toons, his POV is that of a die hard anti democratic Authoritarian proto fascist

Half the country already believes that an unarmed attempted coup has been underway for four years. We remain so divided and disgruntled that no matter who wins an election, the losers will be well on their way to considering that a coup may become necessary to ‘save’ the country. Bottom lines are: no national governance lasts forever; we all think we’re one of the good guys and we fight on the side of good; and the winner(s) of conflicts, when they occur, will write the history of that conflict, so the good guys always win.
