One of my hospitals used to have a contest called “Hold the Holidays.” Teams of workmates would weigh themselves on the big scale in the Laundry before Thanksgiving and after Super Bowl Sunday. If the average weight gain was less than 2 lbs., every teammate would get a prize.

That’s nothing. In 1987 I gained 120 pounds over the holidays. And I proposed to her 2 months later.
