Hobbes is happy as long as he has his tuna sandwiches and the opportunity to pounce on Calvin few times a week.

Chrismtas Day’s strip isn’t going to be the one where Calvin gets from Hobbes a one-day, pounce-free coupon/certificate, is it? Or the one Calvin gets a few cans of tuna and returns them to Hobbes seeing as he didn’t give him anything (and one of the parents offscreen asks Calvin if he cluttered the pantry)?

A dummy that looks like Calvin, so Hobbes doesn’t have to wait around for the real Calvin.

Give Hobbes a case of tuna and he’s happy.

It’s Calvin who lacks imagination. He can’t even think up something his imaginary friend might want.

That’s the way I feel about Christmas presents. I keep telling my family I don’t want anything. Just more junk to store.

Too bad Calvin’s life as an adult is never explored. Real tragedy in the making here.

You know, I agree with Hobbes on this one, however I have noticed that people won’t, generally, let you get away with that. They don’t want to know what I want, they want to know what to get me. I’m okay with that. Just an observation.

Surprised Hobbes not said comics, tuna sandwiches, and love from girls. For me to the point I do not need much for Christmas time. For my sister/husband they decided if need of, ask and have to wait for Christmas time. Mean time my sister watches what her hubby likes to play with and I have that like here, just have to wrap. She was here recent noticed not wrapped and out, I told her already in a box, she asked did I spoil it by asking, I told her I knew she would.

Someday Calvin will understand. Actually, I think in one famous and poignant Christmas morning cartoon – he did capitulate to that line of thought.

It’s funny. I find myself more and more as I get older answering the question “what do you want for Christmas/birthday” with “eh, I don’t know.”

I have noticed you have wisdom, Hobbes. You should get a job as a Buddha for tigers.

Well, at least Watterson allows comments. Why the hell Brooke McEldowny won’t with 9 Chickweed Lane still remains a mystery to me. I welcome any ideas.

I like how Hobbes much less greedy than Calvin. He just wants to be with his family, which is what Christmas is all about, not presents, but to be with and celebrate those who matter.

That’s me – I have wanted “nuthin’ for Christmas” for the last thirty years.

And yet every year I still get heaps of crap for Christmas – things I don’t want and will never use – and still I have to send thank-you notes for all the junk.

Oh, and “Bah Humbug!” right back at ya!
