    Many years ago, I bought my wife jewelry for Christmas and she bought me tools (I was a diesel mechanic at the time). It was a disaster both ways. I promised to never buy her jewelry and she promised to never buy me tools again.

    My husband stopped trying years ago. If he gave me so much as a card, I’d be surprised. Shocked would mean a present. I thought with the ease of online shopping that maybe that would change things… so it truly is the thought that counts!

    For Christmas, I donated $100 to a dog rescue organization that my girlfriend works with. Figure that’s better than buying some stuff she doesn’t need.
