    “Commercials.”

That’s why the Lord made DVDs.

Or back in your day, VCRs. ;)

But us old folks didn’t have these luxuries. Heck, we didn’t even have tv.

I knew we were in trouble when after about 5 minutes of commercials they came back to tell us what we were watching before giving us another 5 minutes of commercials!

I used to watch 20/20 on ABC when it was an hour show. Then they went to 2 hours. Before every commercial break they have “coming up” video and then repeat that after. 40 minutes of content in 2 hours. Too much FF to be worth my time.

It only gets worse, kids. It only gets worse. NOW they have whole channels with nothing but commercials.

The whole point of cable was paying for more channels and zero commercials. Now we have to pay for even local channels. Some won’t allow FF through commercials even. I much prefer DVDs from the library, Netflix, or streaming. Sure, generally I see things a bit later for the luxury of no commercials, but I don’t mind at all. I didn’t even have any cable for years because of the excessive noise. As soon as it’s turned on, it’s playing something all on its own. I hit the “mute” button before that happens now. I generally read books, but due to severe tinnitus, at night it’s TV of some kind to drown out my own head noise, sadly. I would much prefer to just read at night. I never, ever look for something to watch. Channel surfing is not a sport I choose to play. Yes, I know most people would disagree with me.

There was a time where got the remote first when the GF was going to watch her Young and the Restless. I’d fast forward through the show and resume on the commercials.

To paraphrase Johnny Dangerously, I did that once. Once.

    True story:

“Sound Of Music” – the movie – was playing in India when a theater owner figured he could make more money if he shortened the running time and increase the showings. That way he could sell more tickets in a given day.

    How did he do it?

    He removed all the songs.

    (sigh)

Am I the only one who remembers movies on tv and one minute of commercial for 15 minutes of movie?
