I face the same problem with my African-American girlfriend, who hates chocolate. Thankfully, I’m Indian, so I have millions of other confections up my sleeve to save Valentine’s Day.
Such as the gulab jamun (literally rose blackberry), a fried ball of browned milk fat soaked in rosewater-infused sugar syrup. (The name must be ironic, as the actual jamun fruit is astringent and sour – makes for awesome vinegar, though, really beats balsamic hollow)
Or the palpayasam of Kerala (rice/milk pudding made with palm sugar that’s more of a very dark dulce de leche – too sweet even for me unless I do it in the Goan manner)
Or the toasted chick-pea flour fudge originally made in the palace of Mysore, henceforth beloved as Mysore Pak.
Or even the marzipan coins (asharfiyon) of Hyderabad…

There were already 1000 ways to write romance, this strip marks the day Bea introduced the 1001st way!

Of course Sam, countless bees have made a lot of honey, but Sedine is definitely the sweetest young honey made by a Bea! XD

Sedine is sweet, but also spicy and salty, she’s a culinary wonder.
