A new problem with old age, I have many internet accounts and had need of one a couple of weeks back, it was a financial site I don’t use very often. They have decided that name and password is no longer safe enough, as a second layer of protection, they will send a code to your phone. The phone they want to send the code to is a land line. So sorry, my phone can’t get text messages.
I had to wait for Monday to get this fixed.
I really hate being forced to upgrade when thing have worked so smooth for so long. We do have a cheap flip phone, but I never figured we needed it for that purpose.
Got a call from the doctor. Said I had an appointment. Wanted me to download an app so we could do the appointment remotely. When I said I didn’t have a smart phone, the receptionist didn’t know what to do.
It is funny to see old movies where the important someone is at a fancy club and gets a phone call. The maître d’ brings out a phone with a long cord and plugs it in behind the table.
That would be me…. while I do have a pay-as-you-go flip phone, I very rarely carry it on my person (it stays in the vehicle) and it only gets turned on when I need to make a call out (or recharge the battery). Only got the bloody thing because you can’t find pay phones any more. Anyone that want to talk to me can call my landline and speak to the answering machine (I screen all my calls at home). Most hang up when the machine picks up and that doesn’t bother me in the least.
I eat out alone. My phone occupies the time between order and arrival of my food. Otherwise I would have to look around watching people eat, a most disgusting way to pass the time.

How about No Phone and No Restaurants. All closed and no way to find one that is accepting patrons.

Interesting statement. Did the patron have no phone or did the restaurant have no phone?

These days, someone just “inside” a restaurant" would make a shocking video!

I live in a country where the major source of income is cell phone theft. Consequently, I rarely, if ever, carry mine in public.
I once got held up by some young ladrone who couldn’t believe I didn’t have a cell phone or any money on me.
I explained that I was retired – which explained the lack of money – and I was married and my wife did all the talking for both of us.
The thief gave me a dollar and offered me one of his cell phones!

I have a “Made for old people cell phone”. I don’t mind using it but really hate being seen with it!
