I wish someone would publish “ethnic” recipes that are genuinely true to the original recipes that made the original recipes famous. I have roamed the world, but have not been easily able to find ways to genuinely recreate many of the dishes I truly enjoyed on those travels, even on the Internet.
Maybe there is a web site dedicated to this. Would love a link. This even includes American versions of Chinese cuisine as could be found in 1980 San Francisco, but can no longer be found there even today.
I’ve tried a few recipes from Rachel but none have ever passed the taste test with friends and family. I’m an accomplished cook but none of her recipes ever rose higher than mediocre.
Unfortunately, people like to cook “exotic” food that can be made from easily obtainable ingredients and does not cause gastric distress to the unfamiliar.
So tired of whining about so call cultural appropriation, especially when it comes to food. Customers will beat your door down if you make a good product. To whine that another race running a restaurant, selling a cuisine not of their race is not right is BS. If you can make a better product than do it, don’t demand protection from a government because your product basically sucks.
