Google classroom had an outage earlier this week. It’s the snow day for remote learning.

I think it’s okay, but it’s putting the cart before the horse.

Frist we need to bring America’s internet speed and reliability up to first world standards, and not just in urban areas.

I was me. I grew up in Colorado, so a foot of snow overnight and we got on the bus at 7:20.

In fairness, even some all-virtual school districts are letting a snow day slip in here and there because kids need that unexpected break. And frankly, the teachers are near breaking themselves right now.

Give it a generation, and with global warming, there won’t be snow anywhere.

On the other hand, in a building where I worked in New York City which didn’t have central air conditioning, we were all sent home when the THI (temperature-humidity index) exceeded a certain amount. I was told that this was not just company policy, but city law.

The future (once we get back to classrooms): If there is a snow day you are required to log into your teachers school web page so not a day is missed
