I’ve had packages stolen, so I was just like Cathy too many times! The last time I was looking for a package from Amazon, I discovered I could literally track the delivery truck through the neighborhood, listing how many stops before it got to me! I practically met him at the door. Sorry, thieves!
This year you can just assume it’s going to be late and in some cases VERY late. I ordered things in November that still haven’t arrived. Post office facilities in my area are jammed wall to wall with packages. Staffing shortages and a massive increase in volume is messing things up.
Looks like one of the holiday gifts for my daughter will be for her birthday instead. The tracking said it was delivered Monday; but we didn’t get it. The only package we received Monday was a nice cloth mask. We didn’t order the mask and were quite confused until my wife checked the tracking number; they sent it instead of what we ordered. No idea when the correct item will arrive.
In our family, holiday and birthday packages that arrive anytime within a plus or minus window of 6 months are still considered “on time”. Why contain the celebration to a single day? Increases the surprise factor as well! Better late (or sometimes early) than not at all! But these days, we have largely forgone gift giving in favor of donations “in honor of” to our favorite charities…never the wrong size, and you don’t have to find a place on the shelf for it…
Bounced around the USA. Three days in different locations in Kentucky, a day in Ohio, another in Illinois and then nothing for three days before finally popping up in Montana then the next day in California and then on to Everett, WA (Seattle) two weeks in customs and on to Edmonton and finally to us in BC. Last time I request priority shipping. DeJoy and loser have really screwed up the USPS.

Just don’t buy from eBay. They’re notorious for losing items.

Everything we’ve ordered has now arrived. Nothing to look forward to!
