Elvis is reading along with the woman! What a cat!

Haha. Elvis is reading over the woman’s shoulder. Guess he is a literate cat.

Elvis just reads a tiny bit slower than the Woman. And if she falls asleep, he has to whack her to turn the page.

I am preemptively nominating today’s strip for next year’s top ten/Reuben Awards entry batch.

I presume Elvis got his love of mysteries from the Woman.

Elvis needs to put on his jammies and cuddle up next to her.

Of course he would be reading over her shoulder. With dignity naturally.

How’s he reading without his reading glasses?

According to my friend, cats read via osmosis, which is why they often decide your book is a good spot to lay. Elvis, however, is Mommy’s Good Boy and just skips the osmosis altogether!

I had a pet rat who would sit in my lap while I read. He’d stare at the book while I was reading and when I got ready to turn the page, he’d move forward and put his little paws on it and push. Maybe they can all read but it’s not their time to take over the world yet…

I didn’t think Elvis liked trashy novels.

Where’s his reading glasses? He’ll hurt his eyes!

My cats would lay on the book and say "nope, it’s pet me time. On another note… Happy Birthday to me! I made it this far… never thought I would.

Yum Yum doesn’t really enjoy reading; however, she has been known to make snarky comments if I read the editorial page in the newspaper out loud.

This reminds me of my days taking the train and subway to work in NYC and reading the newspaper of someone next to or across from me and hoping they did’t turn the page before I could finish.

Someone else is reading her toes, another, her thighs …

I hate it when people do that when I’m reading a book

The “step on the head for a closer look” move is very cat.

Am I just being a grump today, or without mentioning any specifics, is anybody else annoyed about anything after reading the comments?

Elvis-Anum: Sure. There are a few things from the Great Love Story Clichés I want to look up.

Beatrixia: You mean like Dr. Mermaid and the Viking Vampire Cowcat love story?

Elvis-Anum: That and Temple Owl and the Soothsayer Pussycat.

Beatrixia: Ooh, isn’t that one based on a true story?

Elvis-Anum: Yes. And the Owl still plays a mean game of hoops.

It beats my former horse. Grazing was non-existent in Lady’s pasture so I’d put her on a long line and let her graze in the yard. One day, I was sitting against a tree and reading, and she walked over, took the book out of my hands, shook it, and dropped it. I guess she wanted us to move somewhere else. Have you ever had to explain to the public library why there are horse teeth impressions on a book?
