Actually, there IS a variant that’s not too far from this. Pick a 9-letter word or phrase (no repeating letters) and write it over one row, column or 3×3 in a finished Sudoku so it’s readable forward or reversed. Then, replace all of the numbers in the puzzle with the letter assignments you selected. Then, give the puzzle to people to solve as an alphabetic Sudoku instead of numeric. When they complete it, they can try to locate the keyword, or the clue as to who the killer is.
I would have thought that Jason would have done the on the computer. Paper and colored markers are so pre-computer as to be in some past historic age and time.

Why not? I’ve seen it done with numbers, letters, even colors. You’d have to use extra characters from from the the Master Edition, but it could work.

I would play this. After panel 1, I predicted “Cluedoku” would be the punchline, but I was a little bit off.

He’ll need three more characters.

If you hear from Hasbro, it will likely be a restraining order.

I don’t exactly know how this is supposed to work, but it sounds like quite the interesting crossover.

Then he can design a KenKen doll to add to the Barbie universe.

Cluedoku wouldn’t have worked?

It only appeals to sudo-intellectuals.

Actually, I think “Sudoclue” might actually catch on, if done right (though I admit that I have no idea what that would entail).
