Looks a little small to be the $8,000.00 1,794 pound cheeseburger sold by Mallie’s Sports Grill & Bar in Detroit. That was the Guinness Book holder on Jul 12, 2017.
Our local bakery makes wonderful cheese buns, about 6 inches wide. Split them in the middle and fill them with about a pound of ground sirloin, and you have the beginning of a beautiful burger friendship.
My mother would try to make me feel better about being short by saying “Good things come in small packages.” I hated that phrase. Then, a friend told me, “Nitro comes in small packages!” I like that better! (My mother also used to say, “You’re not short…you’re petite.” I’d answer, “‘Petite’ is just a fancy way of saying ‘short’.”)
I admit I’m old and often rather out of touch. Be that as it may, I’m still amused that at a burger joint, you can get a burger and sides that will feed three to four people for five or six dollars. Across the street, at a slightly fancier restaurant, you’ll get an entrée for one that will cost nearly thirty dollars that requires a magnifying glass to find, much less positively identify.
I read an interesting article on the AARP site. It seems the old folks of Hong Kong live longer and healthier than almost anywhere else in the world. One reason cited was their smaller portion size and their love of having family meals where conversation is an integral part. While they do have a McDonald’s down the street, even their portions are smaller such as a large drink there is like a medium drink here, and nothing is super sized. I guess Garfield won’t be moving there any time soon.
Imagine how much ketchup and mustard Garfield will have to put on that thing. Also, does anybody remember the fourth season of Digimon? They had an episode where the gang go to a village that serves hamburgers.

Too bad McDonald’s stopped doing this. Even if it was for health reasons.

This must be a world record for the biggest hamburger; in fact, it is at least three times the size of Garfield. #giantsize #yikes :-)

What would be good right now with talking scales, is that it would tell how many pounds the hamburger weighs and not Garfield for once.
