Jennifer.usher… to answer your question…he already caught a bus and all he did was ride it. With his experience as a pilot, if he caught the car he might drive it!
Adults in Peanuts are implied, just as scary times are implied in dramatic movies by music, in Peanuts we always hear the characters when they speak to their parents or a teacher, but the teacher is never see, nor the parent. This way the focus is 100% on the characters. It’s the mode in which Schulz created the Little People and we are the happy recipients of his genius.
At the 4-way stop near our house, 75% of the cars fail to stop. We could use someone to chase them down. Officer Doughnut only shows up every other month or so.
Car-chasing can and may occur because of a dog’s predatory instincts or out of playfulness, or possibly out of territorial instincts chasing away an intruder.
Based on my observations of the habits of my dog Petey, a multi-breed rescued dog, I can say with some confidence that when he sees or hears a car starting up the street to pass our house and he is inside our fenced yard, what he is doing is not chasing a car but rather racing it. He is handicapped by needing to make an abrupt stop at the far end of the yard before hitting the fence, but he loves to run and having an opponent makes it even more fun. And he is very fast.

HA HA HA HA HA… this has been the funniest strip I have seen in months… but I have the feeling this would fit better in a Garfield comic strip.

Snoopy is lucky to stay in the countryside. He has squirrels and butterfly to chase. Woodstock fills the space for birds.

When I first saw this in 1974, I wondered when was the last time we saw Snoopy on all fours like a real dog?
