Then have another email address. One for purchases and one for correspondence. You can even make one just for junk mail as in, you’re interested in a product or service but aren’t committed to buying yet so you give them your info to sign up for a newsletter or emails. I have about a dozen email addresses for various things (work, personal, junk email, online sweepstakes entries, social media sites, etc).
I have never in my life had so many people be concerned about my car warranty. It’s not that the company I do business with bothers me so much, but other companies I have never heard of get access to my contact info. I am in the market for a new phone, thinking of getting a 2nd burner phone for spam related issues.
I like to mess with the bots. I will deliberately search for cement mixers, photography equipment, diapers, women’s shoes, religious services, dog food and whatever else pops into my mind and then I look to see what kinds of ads they try to target me with.
Not complaining about the lack, but I rarely receive emails from companies where I shop directly with them online. On the other hand, online pop-ups from on-line super stores, supposedly tailored to my interests, are a pain. Blocking sw that helps with most of that
The most persistent complain I have is with the phone company. Our home phone screen designates some calls as spam . If they know that, why are do they allow them to connect to my line?
On the same note, one day recently we received a half dozen or more calls from the same area code but with different numbers. When I did a reverse look up, each result showed this number shows no subscriber listing. Given the availability of all sorts of technology, why haven’t the communications companies used it to block access to their unsubscribed number lists?
On more than one occasion I got an email asking me to rate the product before I had received it. I have also noticed, if I pay with Paypal instead of creating an account with the online shop, I don’t get all those emails.

Before I even LOOK at anything to buy online, am I ok in having endless ads for that BROWSED item spliced into the articles I read?

Right click, filter messages like these to spam, done.
Though if it’s an interesting enough store maybe you want to get those emails.

This is why I don’t register at most websites and periodically dump cookies.

Those “follow up” ads drive me nuts. As somebody else once posted, “How many toilet seats do they think I need?”

Reputable companies will let you unsubscribe. Also there are filter rules in Outlook that can send mail to the deleted folder before you ever see it.
I have my email set up to whitelist who gets to me. All other mail, except as noted above, winds up in junk mail which is easy to sort.

I wouldn’t mind getting a daily email. But when they send 4 or 5 emails each day, I need to unsubscribe.

If unsubscribe doesn’t work, filters do.

I just hit the “Mark as spam” button. I don’t care if there was some fine print authorizing it, if I didn’t ask for it, it’s spam.

Play havoc with their ad budgets – look at a couple of items every day that you will never ever purchase.

They lure you in with a first order discount. Then you’re locked in. ;-(

You just better hope none of them is a pink slip.
