Everybody grows old. Nobody said you have to grow up.

Today’s “Over theHedge” cartoon gave me this idea. She should move in with Keith Richard, she’d fit right in.

72? That’s a Spring Chicken. I’m 74 in two months and there’s no way I’m ready to go live with a lot of old people!

If she doesn’t want to live in senior living, then she can find her own place—an apartment perhaps—she can live in, pay for, and sustain herself, if she’s really so confident of herself and her capabilities still at her age.

But I suspect the whole point she chose to move down here in the first place is the realization she can’t quite do that alone anymore. If so, then…maybe she does need to step up and face reality, unsavory as it might be.

But I doubt that’ll happen. I’m fully expecting her to just decide to stay at Len’s place indefinitely in the end.

72 today is not the 72 of our parents or their parents. i am 71 and do not see myself in a senior living facility for many years to come if at all. i walk everyday, i roller blade when the weather allows, i do all my own yardwork, do some plumbing, can change the oil in my vehicle, change a tire, do maintenance on my mower, pay bills and balance my checkbook, etc. she should find a place that suits her and there are such things as buses, Uber to help her get around.

Growing up takes the fun out of growing old; this way “we” can get away with things we didn’t dare attempt in our youth!
