Let’s define each way people CAN be jerks and assign each a number. It’ll save time instead of going off on a long rant.

This comic is turning towards an anthropoligy course.

Betty is a jerk. She doesn’t want to hear about herself.

We never have this conversation; I’m retired and my wife can’t talk about her work.

Look, there’s a difference between just mouthing off to relieve steam, which is ok, occasionally, but hubby had been making a daily habit of it, which is what Betty is objecting to. She is not a jerk because she is calling him on his practice, and it seems that he is slowly getting it. All Betty is saying is make something positive about your daily assessment, don’t just wallow in it.

Calling a person a jerk because they don’t agree with you is what is getting this country into a lot of trouble lately. It’s ok to disagree AND listen to each other. No hellfire and brimstone hurling needed. Let’s all just back up, cool down and remember how to behave courteously to each other.

Betty should be considerate of her husband when he wants to communicate / share something since, i am sure, she expects the same from him. Communication is the biggest factor in a marriage and can determine whether it succeeds or fails.

So … according to this the purpose of Bud’s stories should be for Betty’s intellectual edification? I’m not sure THAT is the basis for a healthy relationship either.
